The Kings Arms
We are hidden away on the outskirts of Wakefield., The village of Heath is a living monument to a bygone age. The village consists entirely of buildings dating from the 15th to 19th centuries. Inside the Grade II listed pub you will find a delightful maze of cosy rooms and snugs and still entirely lit by gas lamps. A fully working Yorkshire range is another wonderful reminder of days of old.
The stunning location, fabulous beer gardens and intimate atmosphere teams superbly with exquisite fayre. We have a wide selection of real ales to make a wonderful old-fashioned watering hole.
At the heart of The Kings Arms is Real Ale, a unique, traditional product and Britain’s National Drink. Where as most beer is pasteurised and/or filtered for longer shelf life. Real/Cask Ale/Beer is fresh beer with live yeast in the cask. It has undergone a slow, secondary fermentation that keeps it in peak condition. Ensuring depth of flavour and a natural carbonation (Pete Brown 2010).
Locally based Ossett Brewery took over the operating of The Kings Arms in April 2011.
We serve 3 award winning ales, Silver King, Yorkshire Blonde and our own Kings Arms Bitter. In addition to this we have 4 guest ales on a rotational basis.
We are tested and measured annually by Cask Marque to check quality throughout all our ale selection. We are very proud of the quality we achieve with all our beers and welcome you to step inside and sample the large range of both Ossett and guest beers available on the bar.
We are a Cask Marque accredited site.
Dining at the Kings Arms
The Kings Arms Pub on the picturesque heath common and The Gaslight Restaurant is set within . The timeless setting inside the restaurant creates the perfect atmosphere for any occasion. Whether it be an intimate get together in one of our private dining booths or a large family celebration.
Our separate restaurant adjoining the pub has a stylish but home cooked feel to the lunchtime menu. And we also provide an excellent A La Carte dining experience during the evenings. Our A La Carte menu combines fresh, local ingredients with great cooking skill. Our excellent chef Richard and his team, have put together a unique menu that is all prepared and cooked on site.
We produce top notch modern English cuisine and our menus change with the seasons to bring you the very best of fresh local produce.
We welcome group bookings of small or large sizes and cater for bespoke special events, along with private dining in our individual booths for those wishing for a little more intimacy.
